Cap REDEO Events
Mid-Term Workshop in Vientiane - 2 June 2008

The mid-term workshop of the Capacity and institutional strengthening for Rural Electrification and development, Decentralised Energy Options project (CAP-REDEO) was organized in Vientiane, Lao PDR, on June the 2nd. The first results from the rural electrification planning tool, GEOSIM®, have been presented for this special event by IED to Lao and Cambodian partners.
Participants included government officers from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM, Lao PDR), Electricité du Laos, Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy (MIME, Cambodia), Electricity Authority of Cambodia, Electricité du Cambodge, representatives from the Rural Electrification Fund of Cambodia and from STEA (Lao PDR). Results centered on rural electrification plans for the two pilot provinces (Khammuane from Lao PDR and Kampong Cham from Cambodia). The meeting provided participants with an opportunity to discuss about rural electrification planning strategy, sensitivity and parameters to be implemented on the final plan.
A short GEOSIM® training for planners and decisions makers followed the meeting to strengthen the software taking over.
